In case anyone thinks you need a lot of equipment to set up an iGate, here is the new version of my station:
Radio is a Yaesu VX-2R handheld transceiver. I suspect something like this can be picked up for a song on eBay. It would also serve as a digipeater if needed. And.......it receives NOAA weather, aircraft band, scans the local emergency agencies, and of course, transceives on the two-meter ham band. It is connected to the rooftop antenna:
