I was out at the airport for about an hour Monday morning and a couple of airplanes were taking off as I pulled in. I put the little truck in park. Quality iffy but not bad for an iPhone from several hundred feet away being held in your hand.

Vapor Lock Update …Dan 57
Follow-up...
T stickers were installed on the gascolator, the EDP, and the carb bowl. 50 flight hours later the results are slightly surprising:
gascolator, no discolouration, looks like the fuel is running cool enough thru it
carburettor bowl, no discolouration, not sure of fuel really boiling if no hi T registered
EDP, there u go, hit the 154°C max mark

RV-8 Status …Webb
Firewall forward is done. Windscreen glass starts tomorrow.

Finally got my wing top skins riveted on with the help of a friend. I was able to use the back rivet method and am very happy with how nice the rivets turned out.

Would like to learn more on vapor lock
So I think I had vapor lock yesterday but wanted to hear others thoughts on the topic as well, since I wasn't anticipating it given the conditions (mainly the temp which I thought would generally need to be warmer to cause it). I'm flying an O-360A1A (carb) with 92 octane non-ethanol. I flew to...

This is correct. My battery (EarthX) is on the firewall, I have an RV200 composite prop and the grove one piece gear. CG with me, wife, fuel and baggage will be right around 83”. Sorry all, I had a Homer Simpson moment (Doh!) :D Of course the CG will move rearward with fuel and people...

EAA test Card 6. I need some clarity.
Hey guys. This is the test card that deals with stalls. According to the accompanying flight test manual, you fly each configuration 3 times to reduce variability, but you also fly it at 4 different weight/cg combos. This guidance doesn't seem to match up at all with the configuration...

Aft battery ground resistance
I'm installing aft-mounted batteries. There seem to be alternative schools of thought as to whether to ground the battery negative to the fuselage nearby or to run a heavy ground wire forward to a firewall ground. My fuselage components are fully epoxy primed, so I wondered if there would be a...

Under-compartment for baggage area
I want to put a compartment under the baggage area for tools -- that way I always have them with me but they aren't in the way. My plan is to put it between the left tunnel rib and the next rib towards the baggage door. Here is the area (note that this shows the right floor panel but I'd be...

Torque wrench needed for phillips head screws?
The forward skin is attached to the V stabilizer with AN5 philips head screws. Do you use a torque wrench to fasten them? I tried it a bit but felt it quite difficult to hold a screwdriver bit tightly with a wrench. Also, if a torque wrench is to be used, what torque value should be used for...
