Weekend went fast - worked extra paper route and played catchup on the keyboard. HOPING to get the RV off the surface the first part of this week before the temps climb too much. SIC on a B350 trip down to the TX gulf coast Saturday to get a family before Hurricane Beryl made landfall - the FBO was being boarded up while we were waiting on the pax. LOTS of folks visible at the gas station down the road.
Hope you had a nice weekend and your Monday goes swell.

RE: Elevator Balancing …RossK PIREP
I've just done this on my elevators and the left side balanced without removing any weight. It is fitted with electric trim if that makes any difference.
I expect i'll need to add some weight after paint.
The RH side needed some removed, pretty much as per the drawings, it's currently slightly nose heavy, but I'm hoping with paint it will balance out.

Replacing an ignition lead nut
Replacing an ignition lead nut
I unfortunately sheared the nut that slides over the collar on the spark plug end of one of my leads today. It’s a slick harness, and looking at Champion doc L-1499B the part that broke is an M1673 nut. Assuming I can get one of these outside of a repair kit, can the spark plug end of the lead...

Washing Out an Oil Cooler
Maybe I'm the last guy to get the memo, but here's the story... Noticed oil temperatures were creeping up with increasing Hobbs time. No sign of additional blowby, so why? Then one day I was scrubbing bugs off the leading edges, and thought, gee, when is the last time I had the inlet duct...

The last time I attended Oshkosh was in 1997. Now, it looks like I'll be attending in a plane I had a hand in building! My son, who is a newly minted instrument pilot, will be going with me. He also helped buck rivets! Hope to meet some of you folks, and put names to faces!

Elevator Balanceing
So I have picked up this RV7 and been going through the instructions to make sure previous owners work was according to plans. He has painted it, and I am mounting the Horizonal and installing the elevators. For balancing them and drilling holes in the lead weight, I am assuming that you do one...

"Glowing Fireball" Fulltron paintjob on this RV-9A
Photos do not do justice to this new RV-9A paintjob from Fulltron. As you walk around it when the sun is shining, the metallic orange paint changes hues, looking like it's on fire, almost like a glowing fireball. We heard that this RV-9A will be at Oshkosh, but we're not sure what day it...

RV-6A main landing gear
RV-6A main landing gear
I am currently rebuilding a RV-6A that was in a ground loop incident. I have found many builder errors/deviations so I am suspect of everything I find. Today I found a spacer, 1/4 to 3/8 wide, on the forward left landing gear attachment mount between the mount and longeron. Has anyone else...
