VAF POSTS & RV NEWS THAT CAUGHT MY EYE.....dr:

What did you do w/your RV this weekend? (3/2-3/2024)
Carbon Fiber Tapered RV Wings …rvmills
Doing some VAF catching up, and thought I would provide an update after the first condition inspection with the new wings, after 160+ hours and one (last) Reno race season with them (future racing with Sport Class to come!). Also, just back from a formation flying weekend in UT that provided more X-C performance and LOP testing opportunities to report on. Finally, and first up, just did a flyover of ball game this past weekend near home in TX, and we received the following photo. Second photo is edited by me, as it provides a neat comparison of the RV-6, 8, 9 and S-6 wing planforms.

Tail Kit Page 07-03 Step 1 (Remove the sharp edge)
I'm building the RV14 rudder and up to page 07-03 Step 1 which states:
"Remove the sharp edge on the top flange of the R-405PD Rudder Horn as shown in Figure 1 to allow it to nest inside the bend radius of the forward flange of the R-00904A-1 Bottom Rib. See Figure 2."
So if I interpret the plans correctly - they're asking me to file down or shave away some material from the top surface (straight edge) of part R-405PD
(red line in figure 1 attached). Doing so would allow the rib more clearance in the (roughly 100degree bend) Shown in the second photo.
What are your thoughts? / What did you do?

Milestone!
I got the whole fuse color sanded with 1500 grit and rubbed out with Meguiars 100 today! I'm whipped. Time for a glass of chard and relax in front of tv.

Here’s Scott D w/his newly completed 14A warming up for a Saturday morning flight out of Aero Valley (52F). I went for a hop and had to go around on short final due to a large truck pulling a trailer with earth moving equipment that didn’t yield. There’s a pretty well known video from our...

Bob, Sorry for thread drift, how much work was it to swap out your VM1000? I think that task may be required in my airplane before too long... Pete No worries Pete...and is this Pete P of Portugal racing fame? :) The swap was fairly extensive, but worth it. I had been having issues the past...

Hi All, What I'm sure is a simple question, but I'd prefer a second, third and fourth opinion :) I'm building the RV14 rudder and up to page 07-03 Step 1 which states: "Remove the sharp edge on the top flange of the R-405PD Rudder Horn as shown in Figure 1 to allow it to nest inside the bend...

Upper Cowl Prep for Paint I primed the upper cowl a while back and today I began P320 sanding to get it ready for the next coat of primer. The molding process for the fiberglass leaves a honeycomb texture on the exterior surface. Unless it is desired for this show through the paint (not) it...
