On page V of the RV12 check list in the POH when you shut down the engine it has this procedure:

SHUT DOWN
? Throttle ? CLOSED
? ELT ? CHECK LIGHT OFF & CHECK signal on 121.5 MHZ
? Ignition ? BOTH OFF
? Avionics ? OFF
? Master ? OFF
? Tie Down ? CHOCK two wheels min
? Post Ignition - due to hot weather
Ignition ? BOTH ON
Choke ? ON
Ignition - 3 seconds BOTH OFF

What is the purpose of the last procedure that is in BOLD?

My guess

is that by "Post Ignition" they mean run-on or dieseling (this is translated from German, remember). In that case turn the switches back on to stop the dieseling and use full choke to kill the engine, then turn switches off. I'm open to other interpretations.
