Temp Wooden Wheels Question

UnPossible

Well Known Member
Hey- over the last flight or two, my RV-7A has started to exhibit a bit of a shake at high speeds on the ground (right before lift off and while landing).

I am planning on jacking the plane up and removing the wheels so that I can inspect the wheel bearings, swap the tires, and balance the wheel/tire assemblies.

I don't really like the idea of leaving the plane up on jacks, as it may take me a few days to mess with the wheels/tires.

I was planning on making a set of wooden wheels that I can slip on the landing gear while the wheels are removed.

Any reason not to do this, and does any one know the diameter of the landing gear where it goes through the wheels?

Thanks,
Jason

Why would I want to use simple wood blocks when I could spend several hours constructing an overly complicated solution to a simple problem?

Ok...wood blocks it is - thanks
