Tail Kit Shipping Cost?

Hi All,

What does it generally cost to get the empenage kit shipped for the RV-7? Is there a way to figure it on your own, knowing the weight of the boxes?

A search of the forums didn't turn up much... just trying to get my money around.

Shipping Cost

My empennage kit shipping charges (Oct 07) were:
$18 crating fee.
$121.53 for Fedex shipping to Lees Summit, MO (KC area).

For a current estimate, suggest you call Van's or do a rate quote on the Fedex (or other shipping company) site...for Fedex see http://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home?cc=US&language=en

My cost was $18.00 crating charge and $137.02 FedEx to Atlanta.

Huh...

I must have been doing something wrong. I filled out the information for the RV-8 emp kit on the Fed Ex site and it said it would cost me $240 something to ship it to Omaha, NE.
