Table size?

Need to construct an EAA table. What size top are people using? I only have half of a two car garage right now so it can't be too big.

I have plans for a 2'x5' table top.

Thanks,

Tom

tables

I used two folding tables at 35 bucks each, and one eaa table for nearly the same size work space. I also bought a couple super heavy solid core doors from a local building salvage place to lay on top of the folding tables. Great for sacraficial drilling! 10 bucks a piece.

Mostly, I use the folding tables and I fold them up as needed and stand the door slabs against the wall. When I'm done, I can toss them if I want.

VERY VERSATILE.

The EAA table is great, but for workspace, I can't give up my folding tables/doors. Where else can I get a 13+ foot by 34 inch table that breaks down in less than 5 minutes?

I originally thought that the folding table/door setup wouldn't be stable enough for much of my work but I havn't found that to be true at all. In fact, the folding table is plenty stable and with the door on top it hardly ever moves unless I lean against it-- as would the EAA table

Right now, I'm using one folding table for benchtop tools, one for building and the EAA table for plans and my DRDT

I suppose the only down side that I can think of is the lack of off-the-floor storage space that the EAA table offers, but I used boxes under the other tables as much as the shelf on the EAA table-- later, I just deleted the shelf on the EAA table so that I could sit at the table in a desk chair.

Another upside to having the door slabs around is that when I was working the wings and had the large flat wing skins I was able to store the skins on a door leaning against the wall by drilling a single hole in the door for a cleco (acting as a hanger)

I have two tables. I made them 6' instead of 5'. I have given up on trying to park my car in the garage.

The first one is 2' by 6' frame with a piece of MDF cut to overhang each side by 3" (tabletop is 2'6" by 6'6"). The second one, since it acts as my toolbench rather than a workbench to clamp to, I omitted the overhang, but added two more shelves.
