Step installation QB

On the QBs Vans gives you the option of leaving the aft baggage side cover on [F-750] and using blind rivets for the the step to side skin. It looks like the installation would be a lot easier if I drilled out the rivets and removed the side baggage cover. Anyone have any experience with installing the step with the side cover in place.

remove them.

I removed the covers and installed the steps with flush head rivets on the outside. I am glad I did and the amount of extra work to remove and replace the covers didn't slow me down.

All you need to remove are the front rivets. You will have adequate room to buck 470's with the aft end connected and holding it out of the way. Rosie is required though. I discounted the pop rivet method because those rivets will get a work out. 250 pounds at a foot on the fulcrum? Lots of torque.
