SteinAir LED Strip and Dimmer

Well Known Member
I bought the 3' LED red and white strips and two LED-Dimmers from Stein.
The instructions on the dimmer show four connections but no wiring diagram.
Gound, Switched Output, Variable Output & Input.
My guess would be 12+ and 12V- to Input and Ground then Variable output to the LED Strip. However, just to be certain...
1. What is Switched Output?
2. Variable Output? I assume this feeds the LED strip.
3. Is Ground on the LED Dimmer 12V- ground? or
4. Is Ground on the Dimmer a ground to the LED Strip? or Both?
5. What about wire? Shielded?
6. Which end of the shield should be grounded?
7. Use the shield for ground for the LED strip?
8. Anyone have a wiring schematic?

I assume one dimmer will be used for the red strip and one for the white.

The switched output is either on or off - so either 0 volts or bus voltage.
We used a common ground from the airframe to the dimmer and then to the LED. Variable output is to the positive side of the LED strip.
We didn’t use shielded wire and I can’t see a reason to do so.

I agree the Perihelion design data sheet isn’t totally clear.

Larry,

Looks like Stein skipped the switched power port. Hope this helps. Also ground the LED strip locally, worked on mine.

Thanks. That confirms what I expected.
Ground, 12V Input, Variable Output to the strip. Ground the strip locally. No shielded cable neccessary
