Take a little survey of oil use.

> Please vote, normal healthy engines. (broken-in) to 2000 hours (any airplane is fine)

> I divided into two groups, 320's - 150/160 HP and 360's - 180 HP.

>If you have a high time engine (+2000 hours), please post time and oil consumption below.

> If you are less than 4 hr/qt or more than 24 hr/qt please post your info below.

> You can VOTE more than once if you have info on multiple engines, current or previous experience.
(Apparently not, I tried to turn on the multi-vote but did not take?)

The following are the categories, note engine type.

(I)O320: 4-8 hr/qt
(I)O320: 8-12 hr/qt
(I)O320: 12-16 hr/qt
(I)O320: 16-20 hr/qt
(I)O320: 20-24 hr/qt

(I)O360: 3-8 hr/qt
(I)O360: 8-12 hr/qt
(I)O360: 12-16 hr/qt
(I)O360: 16-20 hr/qt
(I)O360: 20-24 hr/qt

If IO360 (200HP) angle valve or (I)O540, please post info at your pleasure.

Thanks George

As is the case with most things, the answer is: it depends. I have found that in the winter, when cht's are in the 300F range, oil consumption is around 1qt/15hrs or so. In the summer, cht's closer to 350 to 375, 1qt/8-10hrs. This has been reasonably consistent for 5 years now, 830 hours SMOH.

Heck Yea!

Can I post for the IO-360 160hp in my skyhawk? - or is it only for RV engines ... ?

T.
Heck Yea T, go for it, engines are engines, just going for typical RV Lycs for R's 150/160/180 HP. Cheers

Interesting never made that correlation but makes sense. Guess I never kept close enough checks over diff sessions.
