I've read all the "alternator noise" threads and my symptoms are different from the typical "whine/hum". Removed the GNC420 which was quiet and replaced with a GTN650. I now have an intermittent breaking of squelch which increases in frequency with more electrical load. Alternator is a new ND 70 amp, internally regulated. I can adjust the squelch on the radio, but this really is just masking the issue. I don't know what the GNC had for a squelch adjustment, so this may be why it was so quiet - maybe the prior owner had it turned way down.
So any ideas on a random break of squelch occurring every 15-30 seconds or so (Duration is just a split second)?
