Shipping an RV-7

A friend of mine is buying a RV7. The airplane will be shipped overseas via 20' sea crate. We are now wondering, whether the RV 7 will fit inside the sea crate with the gears and wheels attached.

Can somebody let me know, how wide the gear on a RV 7 is measured from the outer wheel?

How difficult would it be, if we have to remove the gear legs?

Thanks

No

You can take the wheels off, reverse them so they're on the inside of the gear, and then it'll fit inside the container. We've shipped many RVs overseas in containers over the past couple years. Take the empennage completely off, tuck the tail into the back corner and you can just fit an RV-7 into a 20' container.
