Scratchy Audio during transmit ICOM A200

I have an intermittent scratchy audio problem with my ICOM A200. It is also scratchy on the audio back to my headset. Have been checking the input cables, etc. to unit, but wondering if there is anything internal to the ICOM like Mike and Side Tone adjustments that could be made. Also are there any relays inside that might need cleaning?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience with this.

Mic gain

There is a "mic gain" adjustment screw on the top or bottom of the radio.
It's under a paper seal tab. I had to turn the mic gain down to cut down on background noise. This may not be the problem, but it could be.
