Just a suggestion, but it might be helpful to know where in this great country 3NP, Napoleon Airport exists. Sometimes when people just use the identifier for an airport I might be able to glean where it is from the information showing where the poster's location is. In your case you appear to reside in Michigan, New York and Florida. Hopefully not all at the same time. That is a lot of country to try and decipher which one of those particular states this airport might reside in. It is even more of an issue if the airport is in none of these states. Of course it is a given that I can go to Airnav's website or somewhere similar and search for this airport but why should I have to do so if the original message would simply state where the airport is.

Sorry, I thought I did as you can see I did not just put in the Identifier.. I have gone back and corrected this mistake...

Yes, I do live in NY, yet work in FL and MI. I actually spend more time in FL than anyplace else.

James, thanks for the clarification. Perhaps I am just one of those pilots who does not think acronyms, or their cousins airport identifiers, communicate their intended message well at all. Because of this, I rarely pay attention to the airport identifier, and many times acronyms, when they are referenced. I do have several fellow pilots I fly with who only refer to an airport by the identifier in casual conversations. Whenever those individuals describe a particular airport by only using its identifier I hardly ever know where they are talking about without having to ask them the question 'where is that airport?'. When an airport identifier is mentioned in any written communication I instantly start looking for anything at all in the text that will tell me where that airport is geographically located. These 3 or 4 character identifiers may work well when compiling databases but they do not work well for my human brain to decipher. Even in this situation where you named the airport, the name did not tell me any more about the location than the identifier did.

Live Long and Prosper!

like the idea

i have to work on the 10th but like the idea of meeting for breakfast with other pilots off this web site and useing this site to post such meetings.
