A new roll of safety wire that I have feeds from the inside, and the wire comes off with a built-in coil shape. It's fairly annoying, so I straighten it by putting one end of the cut-off piece in a vice and grabbing the other end with the safety-wire pliers - hint, any pliers will work - and pulling it. I put on a decent pull, and the wire straightens right out.
Takes less than a minute.
