I’m having to make a repair on the vertical stab and replace VS-802. The length in the drawing shows it at 40-5/16”, mine is measuring 34-3/4”.

I also measured VS-803PP. Drawing is 53-3/8”, mine is 48”. The plane was built in ‘09 however don’t know when tail was bought. Did the 6 use to have a shorter vertical stab?

Thanks

There was an earlier version that was shorter.

The later version vertical stab was basically the same same one used on the RV-8.
When it was used a taller rudder was used as well.
The easy way to identify the taller rudder is that it has a counter balance arm and weight like the elevators.
