RV-9a starter choices

I just finished rebuilding an O-320 for my 9a (or at least for the pieces of aluminum I hope will one day be a 9a). Now looking at starter options. I have been offered a very good deal on a new Lycoming starter (you know, the same one they have been offering for decades). Vans says the mounting of that starter might cause a problem with the cowling fit. Hmmm. Don't want to go there, so the question is, anybody have experience with mounting a stock Lycoming starter on a 9?
