RV-9 Tip-up Roll Bar Question

For those that have completed their tip-up roll bar - did you have to trim the bottom of the roll bar to get the proper height of 17 7/8"? It looks like I will have to trim between 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Before I start triming just checking if this is normal. Thanks for any input.

Personally, I'd leave on as much stock as possible and attempt to maximize the height of the bubble. If you're over 6', you face the possiblity of having to use thin seat cushions and/or a headset with a very thin band. I believe you can actually "cheat up" the roll bar a little when you mount it on its brackets. Wish I knew that when I built mine.

Mine did not have to be adjusted for hieght. However, I messed up the width by cutting too much off the width. Costing $150.00 plus shipping to get the opportunity to make another rollbar.
