Guys,
I need to email this to Vans as well I guess, but I have a query about the size of bolt used to attach the bottom of the vert stab spar to the F-812 bulkhead.
I've measured and drilled out to #30 but the instructions now say to final drill #12, which would be correct for an AN3 bolt. However, the plans (dwg#73) show AN4 bolts, which would require a 1/4" hole. Confusingly, on dwg#78 it shows four AN3 bolts, but this depicts the RV-8A with a tiedown bar attached so is quite probably a red herring. The two bolts that go through the F-812-B control stop angle are AN3.
I know there have been other discepancies on dwg#73 with regard to hole location, so maybe this is wrong too? Or the instructions are wrong? I read ahead and can't find anywhere saying to open the #12 holes to 1/4" later on.
Did any other builder see this and what was the answer? AN3 (#12) or AN4 (1/4")?
