RV-7s in palo alto?

Let me first say hello here. I'm new to the VAF. I'm not building (yet), but I've ordered the RV7 preview kit, and the little practice project. I've been set on building one for years ago, I think it all got started one night when i found dan's rvproject.com site.

One concern I have before I get too far here, is my height. I'm 6'6", which is a tad over the recommended height for the RV7. I know about the tall-people kit for the RV8, but i want a 7 :). Presumably some modifications are possible, afterall, i'm gonna build it, right?

I would like to sit in a 7 and see if there's any chance this is gonna work out. I've been by Aurora, but unfortunately on a Sunday, so I could only stop for a picture. Yep - my 7A is at San Carlos. Send me a PM and we can get together.
