RV-7 Slider to Tip-up

I purchased a untouched slider fuse kit recently and am interested in converting it to a tip-up canopy. Has anyone else gone this route?

To the best of my knowledge, It shouldn't be a problem since the fuselage kit has not been started. It will require trashing some ribs and at least the forward top skin and buying the required tip-up parts from vans. I don't know about the rear top skin since I am not there yet. Just call Vans and they can tell what you will need out of the fuselage kit to make the change. Once you have the new parts, you can just follow the plans for the tip-up.

There is also a kit on the market to make your slider a slider/tip-up combo for easy access to the baggage compartment. You still have the roll bar though but there is less chance of leakage into the instrument panel.

I sent Van's an email. Here is the response:

You will need to buy this sub-kit
