rv-7 question

can someone with a rv-7 tell me what is the measurement from just behind the flap to the ground. i have the steps installed on the project i just bought, but want to build a tailwheel. will the steps still work or should i cut them down by half or so?

I designed steps for my -6 that protrude straight out at the flap trailing edge, but the original steps will work fine on the tail dragger.

thanks mel, i live on agrass strip and do not want the -a or big holes in the side of the plane with patches. i will keep the steps.
