RV-6 structure

I am shopping for a six and have sat in three.I am used to the metal structure that comprises the front of the seat going straight across the fuselage at a ninety degree angle to the fuselage. The last one I saw had a piece of metal running at a 45 from the front of the seat to the fuselage on both sides. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Thanks,

John

Sounds like you are talking about the main landing gear towers in the RV-6A.

There is also an angle in the transition between the spar carry-through and the vertical channels that run up the sides of the cockpit.

Hopefully all RV-6's (and A's too) have this, as it is primary structure...

Thanks for the replies.I think Mel has described what I was looking at. The other two I saw were not 6A's.

Much obliged!!
