RV-3A Elevator control stops?

Hi Group,

I just did my first 25 hours inspection on the RV3A which I bought a while ago. During the inspection I noticed the elevator has no control stops what so ever. I don't have the RV3 plans, because the previous owner did not had them, so I wonder if control stops are mentioned in the plans?

There is a bolt on the bulkhead in front of the elevator horns, but the horns pass by the bolt nicely... The result is that small dents are starting to develop in the aluminum. Not what I want.

I am considering making control stops out of a left over delrin block from the RV8. Ideas? Suggestions?

Kind regards,
Duncan

RV3 control stop

The aft stop (up-elevator) is a plate bolted or riveted to the furthest aft fuselage bulkhead.

The fwd stop (down elev) is a shim bolted to the elevator spar.

I had to work this out myself as the plans did not specify it well.
