RV-3: F-312 Gotcha

Just a quick one for those following on behind on the RV-3B Fuselage. The F-312 Ribs (the two triangular ribs that brace the lower middle portion of the firewall and attach to the forward floor skin) are already known to be shown three different ways on two different drawings (some of those ?ambiguous? parts we have all come to know and love?). Well, you can build them numerous ways, many of which will be ?right?, but something to think about is how close they come to the F-303 (center section) bulkhead. If you put them where the plans show, they will line up with a couple of spar bolts, so you need to cut them off short to allow room for the bolts and nuts. Since they don?t actually join the center section, the ends are ?floating? anyway, so they might as well float an inch forward?. Mine are joined on their top edges by my fuel pump mount ? they are plenty rigid that way!
