RV-14 Fuel level sensor replacement (stock Vans resistive type)

After 4 years of being mostly accurate the level sensor in my 14A left wing is failing. I have done enough diagnostics to convince myself it is a failing unit (checked signal wire and ground connections and observed the voltage change in the Dynon sensor diagnostics page while rocking the wings). My question is has anyone replaced a level sensor in a flying -14 and are there any lessons leaned or helpful hints. For those not familiar with the 14 there is way more space in the wing root to work than in other models. My main concern is creating FOD in the tank when cutting the pro-seal.
