It's been a while since I installed them, but I did not have any side play. I would do some inspecting to see if there is something mis-assembled.

center support?
Do you have the center support bracket drilled and attached?
I have since replaced my stock pedals with control approach custom ones but before that I don't recall having play in mine either. I think the delrin blocks were tight enough that side to side movement would be difficult even if there was play.
Heck maybe you have the new wide body RV-10 version!
