Rudder cable fairings

Quick question,
When installing the Avery rudder cable fairings, are builders attaching them to the longerons (which looks like it requires drilling out 2 rivets per side) or installing them above the longeron? Another method I saw involved just drilling another hole in the longeron and countersinking the fairing but, as the fairings are only .025 I'm not quit sure about that method. I'm a little hesitant to drill out 4 perfectly good rivets. Thanks!

I glued mine on and they are still there 10 years.

And of course you could just leave them off

And of course you could just leave them off. Tell me if you get a speed gain - I can change my mind when faced with good data. I do not have them installed. I am thinking about the rudder horns though (rounded leading edge and long tapered afterbody).

Thanks for th advise. I decided to drill out two rivets in the longerons on each side. It turned out great and now i've moved on to putting the electrical in the fuselage. Build on!
