Rotax 912 Oil

For builders that will soon be choosing a suitable oil for their Rotax, you might be interested to know that Van's is using AeroShell Oil Sport Plus 4 in the prototype. This is specifically formulated for 4 cycle Rotax engines and enables owners to use Mogas and/or 100LL.

The oil comes in liters, rather than quarts. A 12 liter case is available in the Portland market for $102.13. On line you will find it priced about $84/case plus shipping that will probably bring the delivered cost to over $100.

I got a case from the local oil distributor for $50. Took 2 weeks but I got a pretty good deal.

Have been using the oil for about 40 hours (not quite 2 oil changes) with no adverse results.

The best part about it being available in liters is that 3l is just enough for a complete oil change.

In the Portland area, Thomas Oil Co., at 2727 St. Helens Road has one case that I will be picking up. I have not shopped anywhere else since I have found Thomas the cheapest in prior research.
