Roll Bar Brace Cover (baggage light)

Has anyone ever made up a cover plate to cover the F-01432 roll bar brace?

Seems like a few #6 nutplates and some 0.025” sheet and it would make the brace look a lot nicer but also create a spot for a baggage light / over the shoulder cockpit map light?

Yes, it can be done--I installed one in my RV-7. IMHO, it's not worth the trouble. I've never once used mine. Frankly, it's just as easy to use the light in a phone to look back there. I do use the "eyebrow" LED strip that's just over the instrument panel. You can easily read a kneeboard pad or look for something in a side pocket using that.

Did it on both -7’s and the -14. I added a headset hanger, clothes hangar later.

I took this picture while the fuselage was inverted on the rotisserie. The hole, forward of the light, has 1/4-20 threads above it for a camera mount.

This is what I’ve done on my build. Note the brightness control knobs. Airplane is still on the rotisserie.
