Rod end bearing jam nuts on F-790 Elevator Pushrod

My elevator to bellcrank pushrod (F-790) is made and the end bearings are set at the correct distance... but to be able to torque the jam nuts, you gotta be able to hold the tube and counter the torque applied . How do you hold it? I have one of those strap-type wrenches but the tube just slips in it ....I hesitate putting it in a vise. Any hints?

I wrapped a thick strip of rubber around the end and gently gripped it with vise grips. Then used loc-tite on the jam nut for extra insurance.

As a 2nd layer of insurance, your rod end bearings should be over half way in so that if the tubing rotates all the way in one direction, the rod end bearing on the other end won't fall out.
