Steve Stucky, callsign “Boomer”, flies a white over red RV-7. He built the RV over a two year period. This is the second airplane that Boomer has built. His first, a VariEze, was completed in 2000. Boomer is a retired Boom Operator from the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Topeka, KS. A veteran of Desert Storm and Kosovo, he also served as the Wing’s Command Chief Master Sergeant. As a Boom Operator in Desert Storm, Boomer was instrumental in getting a crippled KC-135 home to their base after losing 2 of their 4 engines on the same side of the plane. And losing does not mean they just quit working, but they completely separated from the airplane. With over 2000 flying hours and 1100 in his RV-7, he has been a private pilot for longer than he is willing to admit, and is curretnlty working towards his commercial pilot certificate. When not flying with KC Flight, Steve enjoys helping to improve fifth grade math skills and sports at an elementary school in Topeka or flying in his RV-7 with his wife to California to visit their only son. Currently, Steve and his wife, Trish are living their (or is it "his") dream on a grass airstrip just north of Topeka, KS.
