Right tail cone skin

Sanity check: If I'm reading the plans correctly, we're to cut off the entire triangle of aluminum on the leading edge of the right tail cone skin. Correct?

If so, any recommendations on how to cut it? And then what happens to it? Scrap/practice heap?

Thanks.

Yep, it gets cut off.

They use the same blank piece for both sides, after bending in the bottom curve it creates the right/left distinction.

On the left side the extra piece goes under the baggage door----------look ahead in the plans, it will all make sense.

Since it doesn't make a nice straight line with the edges on either side, just draw a line between the corners at those edges and cut there, smooth it and blend; you won't notice the slight joggle when the forward skins are over it. And, yes, add the trimmed part to your scrap pile. If nothing else, you will need shims for the aft longerons at the tail-cone joint. I got one of those Home Depot buckets for tossing small scrap into - ends of angle pieces, bits of hinge, etc. You never know what you'll need.
