Replacing Brake Lines RV-4

towpilot2003

I'm New Here
I'm replacing the brake lines on my RV-4 and was curious if anyone knows if you should use the insert on the VAN's 1/4 OD line with the .62 Wall thickness? Or will it work with out them.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith, yes, that is what VANS show in the plans. See #42.

Out of interest how old are the lines and why are you replacing them?

Plastic lines bad, Aluminum good

I had nothing but trouble with the brake lines as shown on the plans (polyflow or whatever it was.) I changed to aluminum 1/4 in tube for most of it, with braided stainless hoses for the ends. No troubles at all now.

RV-4 BRAKE CONVERSION PLASTIC TO ALUM CONV.

Did you use the above component from Van's "List" or source your own ? I am wondering if the above kit has all the bits one needs ?
