Removing a prop spacer...best method?

I'm having one heck of a time removing the prop spacer from my 290. Thoughts on best method???

Do you plan to re-use the spacer???

If it is not going to be re-used, can you drill a couple holes in it, tap the holes, and use a couple of bolts to jack the spacer away from the crank flange?

Or, bolt a lever on the spacer, and rock/work it off?

Mine is also difficult to remove on my O-360. I hold a piece of 1 x 2 pine against the back of the flange and gently tap it with a hammer. It usually takes working around the flange a couple of times to get it loose enough that I can pull it off.

Reinstalling it I gently tap from the front, again with the wood.

Hope this helps.

Rather than a board, I bolted a piece of steel angle to the flange and I'm tapping it off side to side. Slow going, but it's working.
