Regulator

Gutting the panel on my RV7A and have found a LR3 Linear Regulator buried amongst a nest of wires. I am installing an Advanced Control Module from AFS, can I remove the LR3 or do I need to leave it in place? If I need to leave it in place, I can’t even see how i would do so. Thoughts?

Retain LR3

Thoughts? (for $0.02)

The LR3 will need to be retained to regulate the alternator. It's designed to be a self-contained charge controller including over-voltage protection and low voltage warning.

A safe and reasonable path would be to wire the LR3 per B&C recommendations, with a circuit breaker for the field supply and fuses or CBs for the bus sense and warning lamp circuits, independent of the ACM. The ACM would be used to control all of the other equipment, but not the charging sub-system.
