Rear Skirts

The canopy is almost complete and yesterday I finished fitting the rear skirts (second attempt). They turned out great. Very tight fit. So tight, in fact, that it takes a fair amount of pressure to close the canopy completely. As it is I don't think it's a problem, but the instructions call for some plastic tape to be put down where the trailing edge of the skirt meets the fuselage. I'm affraid if I do this that the canopy will become very difficult/impossible to close. Is this a problem others have run into?

You really do need the plastic..

....or something to protect the fuselage skin. It won't take long to wear through the paint. If the latch gets tight, simply remove a little from the aluminum "hook" with a small round file.
