fugio ergo sum
Howdy,
Even if you live in the extreme hinterlands, some technology does eventually drift down. I have longed for an iPhone, but we have no AT&T coverage so that doesn't work. Within the last week a very capable smart phone was introduced on the Sprint network, which is available to even we bumpkins.
While playing around with this amazing tiny device several possibilities entered my mind. It is feasible, and probably has been for long, to others, to walk around a fly-in, snap decent wide angle photos, and with a couple of button presses, upload them to the Internet. Total elapsed time, maybe 30 seconds or so. The biggest drawback I see is that you cannot caption the photos quickly from the phone, you would have to go online and deal with the website. Doable, but cumbersome. It also may be possible to upload photos in flight.
Tomorrow there is a little fly-in at Denver City, Texas where I plan to try this out. The URL is http://photobucket.com/Larrys_RV-Photos There is nothing there now but things should start showing up around 8AM MDT or so (6/13/09). Click the "Slideshow" button at the upper right of the page then pause the slideshow and control the photo presentation with the controls at the lower left.
There is usually a good RV contingent from Lubbock at this fly-in
From some hints DR has dropped, it looks like he may be doing something similar from LOE this year, but I will be first (as far as I know)!
