PTT Connection Question

PTT connection on my pm3000 shows to mic "tip".
Is this because of using one of the old-style handheld mics with the ptt button on it?
And if it is, would this be where I connect the wires to my stick ptt? Just trying to get my head around the ptt button thing.

The associated jack tip goes to Ground via the PTT switch when you push it. E-mail sent to you so I can send back a detailed wiring diag.

All standard aviation mikes send the signal to the "ring" terminal, and ground. The tip is reserved for PTT. Seems sort of backwards but that's the way it is.
