Prop Governer

Just curious to know if I need to be careful as to which hydraulic prop governor will fit the IO-540 on the RV10.

I would be grateful for any guidance.

I believe it depends more on the propeller chosen than the engine.

Whirlwind recommends a particular governor which is capable of higher oil pressure than the "standard" one(s) used for Hartzell props; however, it will work with Hartzell also.

Prop Governors

Check the archives on the -10 Matronics web site - some discussion on governors over the years but most focus was about 12m ago. There have been issues with some governors (as supplied by Vans) not being of the correct type for the standard engine/prop configuration. You will also (more than likely) need to reclock the governor arm and adjust the fine pitch stop setting to achieve max RPM.
