Hello, I’m returning to this awesome site after a several year absence. I believe I know the general answer to the question but interested in the subsequent execution with respect especially to IA or DER sign off.
So suppose that I purchase a flying RV-12 and desire to upgrade the avionics. I’m competent to do the installation, update the W&B, and update the ELA. I believe an approval would need to be completed by either the original builder or an IA or maybe a DER. Given the likelihood that the original owner is not a viable option, are there IAs or DERs available in NE Texas area available to do approvals of such and is my premise correct? I would likely be based at Bonham, Sherman, Denison, or Greenville TBD.
I think this will likely have some impact on purchase strategy.
