Poor fit front side & bottom baffles to cowl

We just started on our baffles today and we found that the fit around the engine of the various parts was pretty good. However, the fit of the front side and bottom pieces were not good at all. They fit the engine but are way too long to even trial fit. We have cut off approx. 1.5 inches of the front side baffle using a contour duplicator and are still way off. The bottom is even further off and the contour is also way off.
I have an O-320 with a fixed pitch prop in a RV9A. Is this to be expected or are the pieces for another cowl.
I have pic's but can't seem to be able to add them to the message.

Welcome to the agony of "Test - Mark - Remove - Cut - Repeat". That's baffle making for you! The baffle kit is designed for the engine, and might fit a number of different cowls (I know people that have used Van's baffle kits in Grummans!), so yeah, you just keep trimming until they fit.

Paul,
I was afraid that you were going to say that!!!
I guess that I will be pulling, fitting, and grinding away tomorrow.
