Pin and socket sizes - 22, 22D, 22M

Easy enough to just look up what setting to use on a crimper depending on the pin or socket being crimped, but I have to ask...

What is the difference between contact sizes 22, 22D and 22M? And why are these only variants for 22? Why don't other sizes have similar D and M "sizes"?

Enquiring minds want to know...couldn't find a spec anywhere on-line for this.

The --D and --M have to do with different ranges of wire gauges.
However the note says the 22 and 22M are no longer active for new designs (ie, obsolete) so the 22D for 22-28 AWG is the current pin.
