Here's some updated info:
Have close to 700 hours in the 7A with a PV IO-360 Lycon CNC heads, 10:1, P Mags, Superior cold air sump and piston squirters. Lycon ESTIMATED 210-215HP. Did a ton of baffle work and sealing, added vans louvers. Typical oil temps around 200F with upgraded oil cooler, and CHT's leveled off in the 380-390 range. Had to watch temps on extended climbs.
Just got the AV IO-390 install complete and got a few flights on her. Same prop, sump, ignition. The increased power is noticeable, although on paper this engine has about the same HP. Torque?? Nose wheel weight increased 29lbs, overall weight increased 36lbs. CG went from 81.36 to 80.14. The previous weight was done 10 years ago so those numbers are ballpark since other upgrades and deletions were done over the years. The new CG is much improved. Had to have a 14LB flywheel ring to help with CG on PV engine. The weights stated are without flywheel weight. This thing pulls harder, and I picked up several knots. Will know more after I can fly higher and get some smoother air. Oil temp 195 (with squirters, same cooler but different location). CHT's 313, 315, 330, 355 flying it full power, 60F OAT, and at 6K ft for break in. Should go down with breaking in and fine tuning baffles. Much smoother, climbs and pulls harder. Other than the cost, there is no downside for me with the upgrade.
