Just ran into this one today, so I think this earlier post bears renewing, since the drawing has not been revised.

Dear RV-12 builder,

Ref: DWG 11-08

The WH-P30 5-conductor trim wire with your kit may have wires colored differently than as specified by the manual.

The colors are the same as those specified in the manual, except that instead of one of the two white wires, there is a white/red wire. This white/red wire can be connected as one of the white wires in the manual. It does not matter to which white wire on the servo it is attached.

I would beg to differ with the advice from Gus. The connection of the wires mentioned, determines the direction of trim motor travel. If connected correctly, pressing the trim up button on the instrument panel will cause the trim motor to go trim up. If NOT connected correctly, the opposite will occur.

The problem..... the plans have you place a male and female spade on the trim motor power lead wires before you know the correct orientation. The male/female idea is a good idea....if they are ever disconnected you will not be able to re-connect them incorrectly.

Delay connecting or attaching the spades to these trim motor wires and the wires in the tailcone going to the trim motor until you have installed the instrument panel and can test the instrument panel trim switch in conjunction with the trim motor in the tail.
