Page 23-05: F1270 Skin Cut out for wing spar penetration

I remember some builders recommending to make the hole larger than specified by VANs in page 23-05. The rationale being that it's easier to enlarge the hole while you are first cutting it than when the skin is on the fuselage. Currently the hole I have is 0.97 inch. Could anyone tell me how much larger I should go? (I have 1.17 inch in mind from a builder's site)
 
Hi Jean-Pierre,

To use the left wing as an example, I cut the front side back flush with the cross bulkhead and took 1/8 inch of of the back side of the opening. Did the reverse on the right side, and it is still tight requiring very straight movement to insert the wing.
