Old style Emp kit

Were there any physical changes between the newer matchdrilled 8 emp and the older non matchdrilled one.
I had a friend who has a 9 tell me that the newer is a redesigned larger control surface emp.
Is that true?

I am closing a deal on an older style kit and would like to know If I should go that way or get a newer style kit.

No change in the 8/8A rudder. The change was with the 7/7A rudder. The later kits use the larger 9/9A rudder.
