Oil quantity question

Hello,
This might sound dumb, but can anyone tell me the oil quantity needed for the initial oil fill on a new 912iS? We added the book value of 3 L, but the dipstick still shows it to be very low. We've burped it several times to no avail. We purged the system and have good immediate oil pressure when turning over the prop. Does the 3L include the oil cooler as well as all the lines? Should I add more oil until the dipstick shows mid-range? I'm afraid to over-fill it....... any insight would be appreciated.

Fill it by the dipstick - as I remember it took more than 3 L but not all of 4 L for my initial fill, close to 3L for a oil change. The flat on the dipstick is about 0.2 liter, so you can judge how much to add once it starts reading on the dipstick. I fill it to the top of the flat & don't add any more till it is at the bottom of the flat. Then fill it to the top again. so far I have only done that once between oil changes.

Curious about your oil line and cooler installation. Did you allow all the oil in the new engine to drain out before installing the oil lines?
