Oil Door Not Opening

What is the preferred method of solving an issue with the oil door not opening? I seen two different methods on a few threads.
1) Trim 1/16 of the cowling opening to allow the door to open
Con: will leave 1/16 gap between the door and the opening
2) Open the hinge bolt holes to allow the door to open.
Con. Will leave play in the door hinge

I used an extra hinge doubler (.025") otherwise I also was unable to open the door.
Further I added the oil door modification found on the VAF forum.
When the door is open you can place the oil cap in the brackets. With the oil cap in the brackets you can't close the oil door.
Brackets are made from .025 alclad.

I like that! Very ingenious. I had trouble with mine being too loose so don't go that route. In less tha 20 hours the bolts had wobbled out the holes. I had to install plastic bushings to repair. I think a doubler shoul help you get the clearance you need.
